A little Background on Seth:
Seth is a 30 year old Personal Trainer who owns a facility called “Breeze Fitness”. He is a former national champion in Athletic Fitness, and also had a small boxing career in my early days. He has been all over the world with his TRX, working for TRX as a Senior Master Trainer. Seth trains a wide variety of clients ranging from stroke rehab patients to professional athletes & teams.
The golden heart award 2011. This award is given to Sweden’s best trainer, who works not only with competency, but also with his heart and who truly believes in helping other people and taking them to a better place. Seth acknowledges this is a great honor and would like to thank everyone that has inspired him to be a better trainer – The FMS and SFMA team, Athlete Performance, Jessi Stensland, The TRX team, The ViPR team and the TriggerPoint Therapy team.
explains how he uses FMS in his profession:
When first introduced to FMS by Athletes Performance, I was amazed how much information I could get out of 7 simple screens. This was a paradigm shift for me and my co-trainers. We use FMS and SFMA with all of our clients. It really educates us with what to do and what not to do, and also sets us up to get a better goal than simply becoming “stronger”, “bigger”, “faster”. We actually get our clients to understand that performance and durability go hand in hand.
Why Seth recommends the FMS over other screening methods:
I think the best part is finding the weakest link, which I haven’t really experienced with any other screening model. Some screens are so complex that you wonder if your thought process is correct. This is more like a control sheet that really takes the guessing out of screening. With all the amazing work Gray and his team have done, after certification it’s easy to understand what it’s all about. I have also found that FMS allows you the opportunity to develop yourself and build a better understanding of the concepts with all their DVD packages and textbooks.
I think it’s easy to get people to understand the paradigm once they have experienced the FMS. I have never seen an individual who thinks asymmetries are a good thing. The corrective strategies are easy and do not require many tools. That’s what training is all about, if you can correct and make someone move better without all the expensive stuff, you’re a star!
