» Kyle Kiesel
Dr. Kiesel is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Evansville. He conducts research related to core function and functional movement testing related to athletic performance and injury prediction. He also conducts research in the use of ultrasound imaging for patients with low back pain. He serves as a consultant for professional, college, and high school sports teams. He has extensive experience teaching lecture and lab courses emphasizing core training and functional movement assessment and intervention including both the FMS and the SFMA. He has authored several articles and a book chapter on these topics. He has 12 peer-reviewed publications and presented numerous abstracts and invited speaking engagements nationally and internationally. He serves as a manuscript reviewer for 6 different peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Kiesel is engaged in patient care in orthopedics and sports at ProRehab in Evansville, Indiana where he serves as Director of Evidence-Based Practice.
» Robert Butler
Robert Butler, PT, PhD received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Marietta College in 1999 and his Master of Science degree in Movement Science with a concentration in Biomechanics from Springfield College in 2001. He then received his PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware in 2005. Following his PhD study, he completed a post-doc at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before completing my DPT at the University of Evansville. Dr. Butler is currently an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Duke University and a Clinical Researcher for Duke Health Systems. His research has focused on the role of functional movement outcomes identifying and addressing movement dysfunction in reducing injury risk, improving therapeutic outcomes, and reducing the rate of joint degeneration. He is also a leading authority on how footwear effects lower extremity mechanics during running and other sporting activities. He has presented over 50 abstracts at national and international conferences and has published fifteen manuscripts in rehabilitation and biomechanical journals. Dr. Butler serves as a movement based outcomes consultant for a number of orthopedic and sports medicine groups nationally and internationally with patients ranging across the lifespan.

Michael Contreras is a Batallion Fire Chief and former Wellness and Fitness Coordinator for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) in Irvine, California. Michael has worked for the OCFA for 21 years and held the rank of Firefighter, Firefighter Paramedic and Fire Captain. Michael has held the positions of Safety Officer, Hazardous Material Specialist, Assistant Public Information Officer and is member of the OCFA’s USAR team. Michael has worked extensively in the departments Training section holding the position of Training Officer, Recruit Academy Instructor, Academy Fitness Coordinator, Academy Coordinator.
Michael is a faculty member for the American Council on Exercise and is a CE provider for many fitness topics. Michael has been a presenter at many fitness service conferences lecturing on a variety of topics including The FMS. As the Wellness and Fitness
Coordinator, Michael used the FMS extensively within the OCFA to identify firefighters and recruit firefighters who were at an increased risk of injury. In doing so, Michael reduced the number of injuries, severity and ultimately the cost of injuries within

» Sam Berry
Sam is the Director of Personal Training for Fitcorp, a corporate fitness company in the greater Boston area. Sam oversees the training staff of their 12 facilities and also maintains a client base including doctors and professors from Harvard Medical School (HMS) and rugby players preparing for the US national team. In addition to these roles, he has contributed to publications for HMS, The Sports Medicine Encyclopedia published by Sage Publishing, expected in 2010 and to PTontheNet, a training and program design website for personal trainers. He has been teaching with the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) group for more than two years. Sam received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science in 2005 from Florida International University, and holds strength and conditioning certifications with nationally accredited certifying bodies including NSCA, NASM, and ACSM.
» Brian Bott
Brian Bott joined the Wisconsin strength and conditioning staff in May 2000 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. At UW, his primary responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of sports conditioning for the football team.
Bott completed a Master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of North Dakota in 2000. During his stint with the Fighting Sioux, Bott served as a graduate assistant strength coach, where he was responsible for men’s basketball, volleyball, baseball and the swimming and diving teams. Bott also assisted with football and men’s hockey.
Bott received his bachelor’s degree from UW-Oshkosh in 1997. At UW-Oshkosh, Bott was a four-year starter and a member of the 1994 NCAA Division III National Championship baseball team. He is the only player in school history to play in every inning of every game without redshirting for four years.

Darcy is a licensed Physical Therapist, Certified Athletic Trainer, and Strength & Conditioning Specialist. He started working with and presenting for FMS in 2003 while working full time with the world famous Athletes Performance. His knowledge of functional biomechanics, pre, post rehabilitation and testing has come from the latest in continuing education courses as well as years of developing his own philosophies from working with athletes at all levels and other health care professionals around the world. Darcy’s experience of working with the wellness, rehabilitation and injury prevention of patients and athletes spans from junior, collegiate, amateur, Olympic, professional and elite athletes and teams. Some of his clients include Team HTC-Columbia Pro Cycling and Bayern Munich Professional Soccer Club, where he has successfully implemented the FMS having Championship results. Dr. Plisky is an Assistant Professor in the University of Evansville’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He is the Director of the ProRehab and the University of Evansville’s Sports Residency Program, as well as a practicing therapist at ProRehab.
Dr. Plisky holds a Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Evansville and a Doctor of Science degree in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. He is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is also a Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Dr. Plisky’s research focuses on comprehensive movement testing and injury prevention among athletes, military personnel, and school aged children––research that led to the development of the Y Balance Test. Dr. Plisky’s fieldwork, moreover, has garnered research grants in collaboration with multiple universities totaling over 1.5 million dollars. Additionally, he consults for collegiate and professional teams, military, and school systems to identify injury risk and offer prevention options. His peer-reviewed articles have appeared in numerous scientific journals, several of which he serves as a manuscript reviewer. Dr. Plisky also presents internationally on the subjects of return to sport testing, injury prevention, and field expedient movement testing.

Behnad Honarbakhsh is a practicing physical therapist and strength and conditioning coach having worked at several sports therapy clinics in British Columbia, Canada, and the National Sports Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was a program coordinator and consultant at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) School of Human Kinetics as well as UBC's Varsity Athletics. Behnad continues to consult with various sport teams and individual athletes at all levels, including national and professional level athletes.
Behnad graduated from UBC with a Master of Physical Therapy and a Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Exercise Science. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, has completed a graduate certificate in Orthopedic Manual Therapy at Curtin University (Perth, Australia), certified through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and trained in Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) through the Institute for the Study and Treatment of Pain. Behnad is currently pursuing training in the field of traditional Osteopathy at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.

Mark is the Chief Instructor of Kettlebells Los Angeles, having been trained personally by RKC founder Pavel Tsatsouline. As an RKC Team Leader level instructor and doctorate in Chinese medicine and acupuncture, he has made extensive use of kettlebells with Gray Cook’s Functional Movement technologies for rehabilitation in his Chinese orthopedics clinic in Santa Monica, California. Mark was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He got into sports medicine while playing college football at Midland Lutheran College (now Midland University). Joe Sansalone is the Owner of Optimum Performance Training Institute (OPTI) located in Columbia, Maryland outside of the Baltimore/DC area specializing in injury reduction, sports performance enhancement and functional strength and conditioning.
Joe holds certifications through the ACSM, NSCA, USAW-1, RKC-2, CK-FMS, FMS and ACE. Joe has received high-level specialty education in injury reduction strategies and performance enhancement training from Athletes Performance Institute in Scottsdale, AZ. » Michael Strock, MS, ATC, CSCS
Mike currently serves as Human Performance and Rehabilitation Program Manager for Naval Special Warfare Group 4. During his work with the Naval Special Warfare population, Mike identifies current trends in human performance programming and works collaboratively with the operators and leadership in improving performance and reducing the incidence and severity of musculoskeletal injury. Mike develops and implements the performance training program for the Special Warfare Combatant Craft Crewmen (SWCC) community and oversees their programs at Norfolk, VA, Stennis, MS, and Coronado, CA.
Mike has an extensive background in functional performance training and analysis. He has authored and served as a presenter/panelist for the Journal of Special Operations Medicine publications and conferences.
Mike Strock received his Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training in 1991 from Salisbury University. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Kentucky in 1993, receiving a Masters of Science degree. » Phil and Roberta Snider
Both Roberta and Phil have degrees in physical education from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. They also both graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Education degree and taught physical and health education at the secondary school level for 14 years. Phil is one of the province's first personal trainers, with over 20 years in the profession. He actually trained his wife as she became the Canadian National Competitive Aerobics Champion and represented Canada at the World Championships. In addition to being A.C.E. and Can-Fit-Pro certified personal trainers and fitness instructors, they also are certified in FMS, IYCA, TPI, Kettlebell and Group Cycling.
Phil and Roberta have been happily married for 23 years and have worked together throughout their marriage as secondary school physical and health education teachers, as personal trainers, and for the past decade as business partners. Jon Torine spent 17 years as a strength and conditioning coach in the NFL, where he handled all facets of the strength and conditioning program and was part of the medical management team. In addition to S&C, his duties included team nutrition and hydration, team circadian rhythm management, building an intern program, assistance with college and free agent evaluations, and working closely with the rehabilitation and physical therapy staff in return to play efforts. As a strength coach as well as a personal trainer, Vives brings great insight to integrating the FMS into different environments and assisting professionals in building successful programs and strategies. Her experience with FMS for the last 7 years allows her to share passion for teaching ways to effectively impact functional movement and provide insight for successfully integrating FMS into different training environments.

Remik is a licensed physical therapist and performance specialist. He manages Fizjofit, a physical therapy and performance center in Gliwice, Poland. His experience includes working with athletes at various levels from youth up to national-level athletes. He has been involved in working with soccer, volleyball and handball national teams. Currently he supervises a major league soccer team as well as youth soccer and basketball teams. For the past five years, he has been involved in promoting the latest trends of functional training, injury prevention programs, rehabilitation and testing standards in team sports. Remik is also a part-time teacher at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice.
