SFMA Level 1 - Certification
The SFMA Level 1 seminar will cover the background, philosophy, and evidence related to the model. Next, the 7 full body movement scoring system for the SFMA Top Tier Movements is covered in a lecture/lab format. Then, the logic of how the model breaks down movement patterns is covered in detail.
Once the logic is thoroughly covered, the breakout flowcharts are introduced. The flowcharts provide a structured method to follow allowing for accurate diagnosis of the movement dysfunction for each pattern. The majority of this seminar is spent in practical sessions practicing this systematic approach of breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns as we cover each of the 15 flowcharts. Each dysfunctional pattern is ultimately diagnosed as either a mobility or stability/motor control problem. Participants will be taught the assessment criteria and ample lab time is provided to ensure the participants are comfortable integrating the system immediately into their clinical practice.
SFMA Level 2 - Advanced
Course Prerequisites: Before attending the SFMA Level 2, you must have previously attended the SFMA Level 1 course.
In the SFMA Level 2 seminar, you will spend two full days focused on interventions designed to compliment the SFMA findings. The majority of the course will be dedicated to the demonstration and application of the 4 x 4 exercise matrix and the neurodevelopmental progression it follows. Key motor control oriented exercise progressions are provided for each top tier movement pattern assessed within the SFMA.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of treatment for Stability and/or Motor Control dysfunctions. Additionally, reset and reinforcement ideas will be discussed to allow the participant to gain a greater understanding of the clinical application of the model.
