Eric Hoppe

Eric developed a strong interest in sport related injuries and rehabilitation while training in competitive gymnastics. He has a BSc in Human Physiology from the University of Western Ontario and completed his BScPT (Physical Therapy) at the University of Toronto. Eric has provided comprehensive treatment for a diverse range of sport and lifestyle injuries for the past 23 years in private orthopaedic practices in Ontario and British Columbia. In 2007 Eric opened up his own private practice as the Urban Active Sport Therapy Clinic in Vancouver, BC. He sold his interest in this practice in January 2015 and moved to Toronto in May of 2015. After a year and a half of contracting his services to a couple of private sport/orthopaedic practices Eric has opened his own practice called OPTIMAL FUNCTION Physiotherapy. Eric is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and its Sport Physiotherapy and Orthopaedic divisions and continues to pursue advanced studies in these fields. He is certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and has completed the Level 2 FMS Advanced Corrective Exercises course and the Advanced SFMA course. He has also completed education in the levels A, B and C of the Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization syllabus. He is a Certified Manual Therapist (CMT) with advanced training in Spinal Manipulation and has studied additional advanced manual therapy techniques through the CPA Orthopaedic levels, the McKenzie Technique and the Mulligan Technique. Additionally Eric has completed Level 1 of the Functional Dry Needling (FDN) syllabus through Kinetacore. Eric utilizes a functional approach to both assessment and treatment, focusing on partnering with his patients to address the whole person, getting to the root of the problem and helping them return to meaningful functional activities.
